If you have ever wanted to
connect with your Jewish heritage but felt that you did not resonate with traditional forms of Judaism that were
full of praise to God in a language you didn’t understand and when you read the translation you found it
unbelievable then this site is for you. There is another side to Judaism that is based on Jewish culture and
history. This part is most vibrant with thousands of books on all topics Jewish, a huge range of music and singing
and active cultural groups all over the world. You could sit in front of a computer and download information
non-stop but this would not bring you into contact with other Jews with similar interests to your own. The solution
is to have a celebration where you live or in a convenient location near to you and your friends. The warmer the
atmosphere the better to enjoy the activities and the more likely that you and your friends will want to repeat
your Good Shabbos experience.
DOING SOMETHING TOGETHER IS MOST
Building a community is based on a
simple idea – you do things together, you eat together, you read together, you sing together, you do other
activities together. Making friends happens when you go to the park as a child with other children, you are in the
same team as other kids and you go on excursions together. The same principle holds good through life – do things
together. Participation means sharing experiences and you will remember the good times.
The GOOD SHABBOS COMMUNITY suggests
that you select whatever you want to do from the suggested activities and do it together with friends and family.
It is very likely that you will find that friends who belong to Synagogues and Temples actually feel the same way
as you do. They will come if they enjoy themselves. Nothing is prescribed. Nothing is proscribed. The choice is
yours with one proviso – you have to make the experience enjoyable for everybody so that they want to do it
YOUR ONLY OBLIGATION IS TO MAKE SURE
AND YOUR FRIENDS ENJOY
